PaleoMapper is a program designed to make generating beautiful paleogeographic maps easy! Import your own data, adjust map settings with an easy-to-use graphic interface, and make your map with the click of a button.
Currently in beta, let us know what you think!

Any color you want!

Create a simple .csv data file specifying location, color, symbol, etc. and PaleoMapper will reconstruct your data as well.
Everything that can be done as a static map can also be done as an animation!

Projects keep track of all the files you've loaded, their order, and their settings. Projects always keep the files they need in the same directory as the project file.
The top table shows all of the .gpml, .dat, .shp, and .csv files currently loaded. Checked files will be plotted in the order shown. The border color, fill color, and opacity can be specified per file.
The bottom table shows all of the .jpg, .jpeg, and .png files currently loaded. These files are never reconstructed and always plotted at the bottom.
If only the start time is entered, a single map will be generated. To generate an animation, add an end and step time.
You can save as many different formats as you want at once. The specific settings for each option appear when selected. And when you're ready, just click run!
As of right now, the only way to get PaleoMapper running on your computer is to download the program and follow the installation guide found on the Github page. We are working on building it into an application Mac, so keep your eyes peeled for that!
For the beta version, no—the repository is public on Github and anyone can clone it. However, future versions of PaleoMapper will be member only or for purchase to non-members.
PaleoMapper is in beta for a reason! If you think you found a bug, we'd love to hear about it.
Maybe! Let us know about possible features you'd like to see in PaleoMapper, and our team will take it under consideration.
